Fabulous Glowing Summer Skin

Everyone loves the idea of making their own skin products that are brimming with natura, active ingredients, but whether we like it or not (or agree or not), they never seem to hit the mark, never do what we want them to do.

This is usually because we are not sure about which ingredients will actually make the difference that we want for our skin.

The problem is that we don't have a good foundation to build our DIY recipes with, Vani has created some recipes to help you to make the most of our Ayurveda Apothecary products, making your very own customized product adds a wonderful dimension to your skin regime.

We are starting with your own customized Ayurveda Ubtan (or face Mask). Ubtan uses an ancient recipe that ancient goddesses loved, to gently but deeply detox massage and polish the skin.

Ubtan/Face masks are the perfect instant skin care treatment to help you create an immediate glow. The right face mask can help hydrate your skin, remove excess oils and help improve the appearance of your pores, they are great to remove impurities.

Our first recipe is for the Vata Skin type. The Vata skin will often be drier than the other 2 types. THE Characteristics of Vata skin are, cold, dry, sallow, rough, small pores, thin skin, prone to premature wrinkles, dark under eye circles, easily tans.  Vata skin may be light, dull or even papery, requiring moisturising and care in all weather conditions, particularly in strong sunlight.

2 Tablespoons of Vata Face Polish - this is your base.

Mix together:
2 tablespoons of oat flour (you can use porridge oats blitzed in a blender)
1 teaspoon of sesame seed oil
Quarter of an avocado
1 teaspoon of castor oil
Quarter teaspoon of turmeric powder

Put into another container and keep in the fridge for up to 3 days with avocado or if you add the avocado when you do your mask the mix will last for quite some time in the fridge.

When your ingredients are fully mixed, add the Vata Face Polish and mix together.
The mixture should be wet enough to spread onto your face and thick enough to cover and stay put.

Cover the whole face, neck and décolletage and lie down for up to 30 mins.

Then gently massage the skin in slow stroking movements up and outwards, to remove the Ubtan.

Rinse thoroughly, pat dry and moisturise using our Vata Nurturing Face Cream to lock in the benefits of your Ubtan.

See your face glow, fully cleansed, purified, soft and replenished.
